The Plumas Charter School Warriors volleyball program is building momentum as the fall season gets underway, with both the junior varsity and varsity teams showing plenty of promise heading into a pair of home matches next week.

The Warriors will return to their home court Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 4 p.m. against Loyalton, followed by another home match Thursday, Sept. 10, at 4:30 p.m. against Providence Christian. Fans are encouraged to come out, support the teams and help create a strong home-court atmosphere.

JV Warriors Bring Home Tournament Win

The junior varsity Warriors, coached by Adrienne Patterson have put together a strong start to the season, compiling an 8-4 overall record including tournament and regular-season play.

The team opened its season at the Portola tournament, where the Warriors defeated Loyalton, Portola and Herlong before falling to a charter school from Reno in the championship match. The strong showing earned PCS a second-place tournament finish and provided an early indication of the team's potential this season.

The Warriors continued their successful run with strong play in the weeks that followed, including a tournament championship in Burney on Aug. 28. The team went undefeated through the Burney tournament, defeating Burney, Maxwell and Burney again to claim the title.

The JV team also faced Loyalton in a regular-season matchup last week, falling to the Grizzlies. Despite the setback, the Warriors enter the next stretch of the season with an 8-4 record and plenty of momentum from their tournament success.

With a combination of tournament experience, competitive regular-season matches and a growing group of confident young athletes, the JV Warriors are establishing themselves as a team to watch as the season continues.

Varsity Finds Momentum Through Tournament Play

The varsity Warriors enter the next stretch of the season with a 2-6 record, continuing to build experience through a competitive schedule and showing strong individual performances along the way.

In the Warriors' recent regular-season matchup against Loyalton, Amaiya Beatty led the team offensively with 11 kills and five serving aces, finishing as the team's leader in both categories. Jaycee Pew and Alexis Winters each recorded 10 assists, while Bella Schramel and Lucy Bentz led the defensive effort with eight digs apiece.

The team also saw several standout performances during the Burney Tournament. Beatty recorded 27 kills, while Winters contributed 21 assists and Bentz led the Warriors defensively with 20 digs.

The performances demonstrate the Warriors' ability to contribute in all areas of the court, with strong serving and attacking from Beatty, steady playmaking from Winters and Pew, and defensive coverage from Bentz and Schramel.

Home Court Advantage Starts With the Community

Now, the Warriors are looking to carry that momentum onto their home court.

The Sept. 8 matchup against Loyalton offers the varsity team another opportunity to build on its first win of the season, while the Sept. 10 match against Providence Christian gives the Warriors another chance to compete in front of their home crowd.

For a small school like Plumas Charter, home games are about more than the final score. They provide an opportunity for students, families, alumni and community members to come together, support student-athletes and celebrate the school community.
